NFL Shortcuts

– Bengals are the best team in the AFC because of the physical-ness of the guys up front.  The old clinche of the NFL is “it starts up front”.  In the case of ‘Nati this is ever glaring.  The offensive and defensive lines look like lines of the past from there division rival Steelers.  “Body changers”, I don’t know…but I do know the death of Coach Zimmer’s wife definitely resinates and motivates on a game-by-game basis.  His scheme along with Coach Marvin Lewis’s(…who should be high on the Coach of Year totem pole) has proven to be affective against Big Ben whom inprovisives more than any QB in the league.  This is more to difficult defending than a methodical offense i.e. Peyton an the Colts.  It would be competitve but I believe the Bengals brute force would overcome!

– Larry Johnson signing will have no major impact on Bengals year.  LJ (…not Grandma Ma) is still 250lbs and alarmingly desperate to stablize his reeling career at 30 years old.  The mark where the majority running backs start to decline.  In my opinion, his best opportunity to contribute will be in pass protection.  Better start studying the playbook, pimp.

– Panthers will make the playoffs if they continue to implement more run plays than pass plays in there offense.  Statisticly when you look at the Panthers, their winning precentage is incremently better, when the Offensive Coordinator calls 65% run/34% pass.  The indirect consequence is that you make Jake Delhomme a efficient/controlled QB that made the Pro Bowl.  Where they got the notion that Jake was a prolific passer is beyond me.  Steve Smith(…and Mushin) have always made Delhomme look more accurate than he actually is.  The Panthers will make the playoffs it they stick to the winning formula.  RUN…RUN…RUN!  Screen pass
